"Li Shi Tuo Xue" is a story about an incident between Li Bai and Gao Li Shi.

In the early Tianbao period of the Tang Dynasty, Li Bai was appreciated by Emperor Tang Xuanzong and was appointed as an official in the court, responsible for writing poems and essays in the palace.

One day, Emperor Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei were admiring flowers and drinking wine in the Chenxiang Pavilion in the palace. Suddenly, they remembered Li Bai and hoped that he would write a few songs to enhance the atmosphere. So they sent someone to pick up the drunken Li Bai from the tavern, brought him to the palace on a horse, and used cold water to sober him up a bit. After his drunkenness subsided, Li Bai picked up a pen and quickly wrote three poems called "Qingpingyue Ci", praising Yang Guifei and the peony flowers. The poems were beautiful and moving, making Emperor Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei very happy.

Although Li Bai often attended court banquets, he did not worship the powerful and did not value the emperor and those around him who were wealthy and influential.

Once, when he was drunk, he stretched out his foot in the palace and said to Gao Li Shi, the eunuch sitting beside him, "Take off my boots for me."

Gao Li Shi was at a loss for a moment but had to take off Li Bai's boots. This made Gao Li Shi feel very angry and humiliated because at that time he was a powerful figure in the court, and all official matters had to go through him. Officials of all ranks tried to curry favor with him, and he had never suffered such an insult before. This incident made him angry and decided to find an opportunity to revenge on Li Bai.

Gao Li Shi knew that Yang Guifei liked to recite Li Bai's "Qingpingyue Ci", so he deliberately guided the topic in front of Emperor Tang Xuanzong and Yang Guifei, saying that there was a line in Li Bai's poems that compared Zhao Feiyan to Yang Guifei. Zhao Feiyan, although she became a queen later, was originally a singer and had immoral behavior, which led to her being demoted to a commoner. This comparison made Yang Guifei feel too humble. As a result, Yang Guifei also began to have dissatisfaction and anger towards Li Bai, preventing Emperor Tang Xuanzong from appointing Li Bai to various positions multiple times.
